Who we are
Student Council is a group of extremely dedicated, carefully selected individuals who are driven to representing their Student Body in a fair, just, and equitable way. We take pride in conducting ourselves with dignity, responsibility, and respect, and value the differences and diversity within our school. Our highly committed team works hard to create and execute initiatives, events, and ideas that make Southwest High School a better place to learn and grow. We place a special emphasis on responsibility and leadership and look to bring innovation, creativity, and collaboration into our work.
Our Mission
Bridging the student-administration gap, developing student spirit and engagement, and being the voice of the Student Body is what Southwest Student Council is dedicated to. We seek to create a safe, supportive space for student needs and issues to be heard, advocate for all stakeholders within the Southwest community, and plan events for student involvement. Providing detailed, up-to-date information on the decisions that affect students, and informing them about the opportunities available to them is another aspect of how we function, and we want to increase student awareness about all dimensions of Southwest: social, academic, and extracurricular.

Our Goals for 2020-21
COVID-19 and Distance Learning are just some of the many challenges facing the Southwest community this year, and Student Council is committed to helping make the transition back to in-person learning go smoothly and maintaining school spirit and student interaction during this time. Our first priority is rebuilding our foundations as a Council and reconnecting to the true mission of student leadership, and then expanding the role of Student Council to extend to all aspects of Southwest, including clubs, administration, and service. We hope to create new ways to inform, engage, and involve students, and want to increase the ways that student voice is heard throughout Southwest.
